Pair of cast metal bookends (15,5 x 9,5cm). Each bears a WMF sticker. Would love to learn if anyone has any further information regarding these pieces...designer, year, etc.

Hi James!

Sorry, but i probably can not help you much.
I have this book:
http://www.arnoldsche.com/showBook.php?id=164&kId=3

... and most of the items in it were from the 1920s to 1930s, only few items from the 50s and 60s.

The design of your bookends looks to me like 60s or 70s and also the golden sticker (i have a glass vase in front of me with the same sticker) is probably from this time.

Regards
Micha

WMF ice-egg

Post by tomato on Mon Aug 13, 2012 1:33 pm

found this ice egg
12cm egg
36cm with chain in total

According to the WMF customer service it is a WMF company design, no special designer is mentioned.
The silver plated ice egg was in production from 1894-1960, quite a long time.
The mark was used from 1935-1965.
That is what the WMF employee told me.

i really wonder about this long production time, as i never saw a second piece like this before...

(Is this a Wagenfeld design ?
Micha, do you have any informations about this piece in your book ?)
Tom

Insulated teapot, 0,7L capacity. Not sure of the date of this but would guess around 1935-1940 period. I love the patina on this piece...it will never be polished again... (as if that would have happened in my house!)
